What is PTFE?
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance fluoropolymer best known by the brand name Teflon®. It is widely used as an industrial coating because it creates an extremely smooth, non-stick surface while providing excellent resistance to chemicals, heat and corrosion.
In industrial applications, PTFE is applied as a thin coating to metal components to improve their performance and extend their service life.

PTFE is popular because it offers a unique combination of benefits:
- Excellent non-stick properties that help prevent product build-up.
- Very low coefficient of friction, allowing parts to move more smoothly with less wear.
- Outstanding chemical resistance to many acids, alkalis and solvents.
- Corrosion protection for metal components in harsh environments.
- High temperature resistance, with continuous operating temperatures up to approximately 260°C.
- Moisture resistance, as PTFE is virtually unaffected by water.
- Easy-to-clean surface, reducing cleaning time and maintenance.
Common Components That Can Be PTFE Coated
Many metal parts can be coated, including but not limited to:

MIXING BLADES

CHUTES

MOULDS

PUMPS

Why Industries Choose PTFE

PTFE remains one of the world’s most widely used industrial coating materials because it combines several valuable characteristics in a single coating:
- Exceptional non-stick performance
- High heat resistance
- Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance
- Low friction for smoother operation
- Easy maintenance and cleaning
- Long-lasting protection for industrial components
For companies like Peratex, PTFE is often the first recommendation when customers need to reduce sticking, improve cleanability or protect metal parts from harsh operating conditions. It is especially effective in food processing, packaging, manufacturing and chemical industries where reliability and durability are essential.
