What Is PFA?
PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) is a premium fluoropolymer coating within the Teflon® family. It combines the outstanding non-stick, chemical resistance and heat resistance of PTFE with greater toughness, flexibility and durability.
Unlike PTFE, PFA can be applied in thicker coatings while maintaining a smooth, pinhole-free finish. This makes it ideal for demanding industrial environments where components are exposed to aggressive chemicals, abrasion or frequent cleaning.
Key Properties of PFA
PFA coatings are chosen for applications that require long-lasting performance in harsh operating conditions.
Key benefits include:

- Excellent non-stick properties to minimise product build-up.
- Outstanding chemical resistance against a wide range of acids, alkalis and solvents.
- Continuous operating temperatures up to approximately 260°C.
- Excellent corrosion protection for metal components.
- Greater toughness and durability than PTFE in many applications.
- Smooth, easy-to-clean surface that supports efficient maintenance.
- Low coefficient of friction for improved movement and reduced wear.
- Ability to form thicker, more uniform coatings where additional protection is needed.
Common Components That Can Be PFA Coated
Many metal parts can be coated, including but not limited to:

PROCESSING VESSELS

HEAT SEAL BARS

TANKS

CHUTES

VALVES

HOPPERS
Why Industries Choose PFA

PFA is often chosen when equipment needs to withstand harsh chemicals, high temperatures and continuous production without compromising performance. Compared with PTFE, it generally offers greater durability and can be applied in thicker coatings for enhanced protection.
For businesses looking to maximize equipment life while reducing maintenance, downtime and product build-up, PFA is an excellent choice for demanding industrial applications.
